Stan Lee, the legendary writer, editor and publisher of Marvel Comics creations that are flawed but real-life superhero make it fantabulous for comic book lovers everywhere, has died. He was 95.

Lee, who started in business in 1939 and created or co-created the Black Panther, Spider-Man, X-Men, the mighty Thor, Iron Man, Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man, and daredevil, among many others, died Monday morning at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, a family representative told The Hollywood Reporter.

Kirk Schenck, an attorney for Lee's daughter, Lee JC, also confirmed his death.

Lee a few years late frenzy. After Joan, his wife of 69 years, died in July 2017, he sued Executive at POW! Entertainment-the company he founded in 2001 to develop the nature of film, TV and video games-$ 1 billion for the alleged fraud, then suddenly dropping the suit weeks later. He also charged the ex-manager of business and filed for a restraining order against a man who had been handling the affair. (Lee Estate is estimated to be worth as much as $70 million.) And in June the year 2018, it was revealed that the Los Angeles Police Department has been investigating reports of abuse elders against him.

Own and through his work with artist-writer often collaborator Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and others, Lee catapulted the Marvel of small business which became no. 1 in the world of comic book publisher and, later, the multimedia giant.

In 2009, The Walt Disney Co. is buying Marvel Entertainment to $4 billion, and most of the top-grossing superhero movie of all time — led by the Avengers: Infinity war $2.05 billion worldwide take earlier this year-have feature Marvel characters.

"I used to think what I do is not highly important, " she told the Chicago Tribune in April 2014.  "Browse build bridges and engaged in medical research, and here I am doing a story about the fictional people who do crazy things and wearing the costumes. But I guess I've come to realize that entertainment is not easily dismissed.  "

Lee's fame and influence as the face and reveal a Marvel, even in the years of Brazil nonagenarian, remain insufficient.

"Stan Lee is as remarkable as the characters he created, " Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger said in a statement.  "A superhero in his own right in the Marvel fans worldwide, Stan has the power to inspire, entertain and connect. The scale of his imagination surpassed only by the size of his heart.  "

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also paid tribute.  "No one has had more impact on my career and everything we do at Marvel Studios than Stan Lee, " said Feige.  "Stan left a remarkable legacy that will outlive us all. Our thoughts are with his family and the millions of fans who have been forever touched by Stan genius, charisma and heart. "

Beginning in the 1960 's, the irrepressible and feisty Lee hit upon his personality with the Marvel superhero, not just electricity. Until then, the comic books of DC Comics such as headliners and well-adjusted, but heroes possess human foibles and hang-ups; Peter Parker/Spider-Man, for example, merepet about his dandruff and confused about dating. The perpetrators of the crime in shambles the psychological complexities.

The story's "his taught me that even superheroes like Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk has a lack of ego and girl problems and not living in their macho fantasy 24 hours a day, " Gene Simmons of Kiss said in an interview in 1979.  "Through honesty guys like Spider-Man, I learned about the shades of gray in human nature.  "(the kiss made it to the pages of Marvel, and Lee has Simmons bleed into vats of ink so that the Publisher can say the issue is printed with blood.)

The Manhattan-born Lee wrote, art-directed and edited most of the Marvel's series and newspaper strips. She also writes a monthly comics column,  "Stan's soapbox," sign with His signature phrase,  "Excelsior! " way of doing things at Marvel is to brainstorm stories with an artist, then write a Synopsis. After the artist draws the story panel, Lee filled the word balloons and captions. The process became known as  "Marvel method. "

Lee collaborated with artist-writer Kirby Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, the Silver Surfer and the X-Men. With writer-artist Ditko he created Spider-Man and doctor strange, surgeon and with artist Bill Everett came up with the blind superhero daredevil.

Such collaboration is sometimes cause of dispute credit: Lee and Ditko reportedly engaged in bitter fights, and both receive writing credits of Spider-Man movies and TV shows.  "I don't want people to think I was treated unfairly or Kirby, Ditko's" she told Playboy magazine in April 2014.  "I think we have a wonderful relationship. Their talents are truly remarkable. But the things they want are not everything in my power to give it.  "

Like every employee of Marvel, Lee has no right to a character he helped create and receive no royalties.

In 1970, Lee helped drive important limits on censorship in comics, dig up serious and topical subject matter material in a medium that has become a mindless entertainment, child-friendly.

In 1954, the psychologist Frederic Wertham's book publishing the deception of innocent has spurred calls for the Government to regulate violence, sex, drug use, to question authority figures public, etc., in the comics as a way to restrict  "juvenile delinquency.   "Wary Publisher headed that off with the comic code authority form, censor ourselves body while avoiding heavy-handed Washington still ended neutering adult interest in comics and media stereotypes as one only children will enjoy.

Lee scripted scenario with shallow characters such as nurse Nellie and Tessie Typist, but in 1971, he entered anti-drug flow into  "The Amazing Spider-Man's" where Peter Parker's friend Harry Osborn appears pills. Issues that do not carry the CCA's "seal of approval " on the cover, is becoming very popular, and then, relaxing a few organizational guidelines.

Born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 28, 1922, he grew up poor in Washington Heights, where his father, an immigrant, Romania was a dress-cutter. A lover of books and movies the adventures of Errol Flynn, Lee graduated from DeWitt Clinton HIGH SCHOOL, joined the WPA Federal Theatre project, where he appeared in several stage shows, and write an obituary.

In 1939, Lee got a job as a gofer for $8 a week at Marvel Comics predecessor timely. Two years later, to Kirby and Joe Simon's Captain America no. 3, he wrote a two-page story entitled "The traitor's revenge!  "used as filler text to qualify the company for cheap magazine mailing rates. He used the pen name Stan Lee.

He was named interim editor at Publisher Martin Goodman 19 by when the editor was previously stopped. In 1942, he enlisted and served in the signal Corps, where he wrote training films and manuals with a group that included Oscar winner Frank Capra, Pulitzer-winner William Saroyan and Theodor Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss). After the war, he returned to the Publisher and served as editor for a decade.

After DC Comics ' Justice League, lead by Lee and Kirby in November 1961 launched their own superhero team, the Fantastic Four, Marvel Comics recently renamed, and Hulk, Spider-Man, doctor strange, daredevil and the X-Men soon followed. The Avengers was launched as its own title in September 1963.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the high-culture vultures literary Manhattan does not give approval on how Lee was making a living. People will be "avoid me like I had the plague. ... Today, it's very different, "he once told The Washington Post.

Not everyone felt the same way, though. Lee recalled once being visited in his Office in New York by Federico Fellini, who wanted to talk about anything except Spider-Man.

In 1972, Lee was named Publisher and editorial control of Marvel release the entire time spent promoting company. He moved to Los Angeles in 1980 to set up an animation studio and build relationships in Hollywood. Lee bought a House overlooking the Sunset Strip that was once owned by Jack Benny, announcer Don Wilson.

Long before the Marvel character makes it to the cinema, they appear on television. Spider-Man animated performances (with a memorable theme song was composed by Oscar-winner Paul Francis Webster, from  "The Shadow of Your Smile's" fame and Bob Harris) ran on ABC from 1967-1970. Bill Bixby played Dr. David Banner, who transforms into a green monster (Lou Ferrigno) when he gets agitated, 1977-82 CBS Drama The Incredible Hulk. And Pamela Anderson voiced Stripperella, a risque Spike TV animated series that Lee wrote in 2003-04.

Lee launched Stan Lee Media in the cloud in 1998, and a studio creation, production and marketing of superheroes go public a year later. However, when the researchers uncovered illegal stock manipulation by the partners, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2001. (Lee was never charged.)

In 2002, Lee published an autobiography, Excelsior! The amazing life of Stan Lee.

Survivors include her daughter and younger brother Larry Lieber, a writer and artist of Marvel. Other children, Jan, died in childhood. His wife, Joan, is a model of hat whom she married in 1947.

"J.C. Lee and all the friends and colleague Stan Lee would like to thank all the fans and well-wishers for the kind words and condolences, " read the statement.  "Stan is an icon in his field. His fans love him and his desire to interact with them. He loves his fans and treat them with the same respect and love they give him.  "

"He whenever we can create great character all his life for the world to enjoy. He wanted to inspire our imagination and we all use to make the world a better place. His legacy will live on forever.  "

Like Alfred Hitchcock before him, Lee never-shy appeared in cameos in Marvel films, shows avoid falling concrete, lawn watering, mail delivery, crashing weddings, playing a security guard, etc.

Spider-Man 3 (2007), he chats with Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker when they stopped on the streets of Times Square to read the news that the web-slinger will soon receive the keys of the city.   "You know," he said, "I'll guess one person can make a difference ... " nuff said. "
